Calabria

italia_2.png

The ancient Greeks appreciated the wine from Calabria thanks to the flourishing vineyards that covered the region, specially on the Ionian coast.
Calabria has very different characteristics from other Italian regions because it is separated by the Strait of Messina on one side and by the Pollino mountains on the north. Together with the local morphology made of mountains, hills and cliffs this makes Calabrian wines so special.

The most important denomination is Cirò that allows white, red and rosè wines. The white wines are mostly made with Greco grapes, red and rosè wines with Gaglioppo.

For in-wine we have chosen a tiny, familiar wine-producer called Fratelli dell’Aquila that works with organic agricolture and spontaneous fermentation for delicious and well-made wines.
