Trebbiano Spoletino is not a Trebbiano and it is not originate from Spoleto. A "false friend", in short, but in reality, it is a vine which fortunately has been rediscovered for some years and which today is grown only in the area of Spoleto and Montefalco, Umbria. The origin is from Trevi, hence the name, and has nothing to do with the Trebbiano grape so widespread in many other parts of Italy. The Bocale winery takes care of it with great passion and produces a richly citrusy and versatile wine with aging prospects of up to 4-5 years.
See Valentino Valentini, owner of the Bocale winery, describing this wine.
