Vinicola Cicella's Primitivo di Manduria "Pepe Nero" is a majestic and at the same time elegant and gracefoul wine luckily far from the old fashioned heavy Primitivo from the past.
It's a wine that despite the high alcoholic content is vibrant and pulsing with a great freshness until the end.
"Pepe Nero" grows with the typical sapling training system (bush vine) very close to the Mediterranean coast.
The harvest takes place in the first week of September. For the aging the winery uses stainless steel only in order to avoid to add more substance to the already very rich Primitivo (also known as Zinfandel) grapes.
Ruby red with intense violet reflections.
To the nose Pepe Nero is exciting, almost hypnotic, with ripe fruit and jam aromas. Strawberry and cherry in first place.
To the palate it's a delicious sensation of fruit and spices with a silky feeling that will make you forget about the 16% alcohol.
The persistence is very long.
