The Menicucci winery takes very special care of their Alzavola. The Merlot grapes are harvested in the second half of October and then aged for 6 to 8 months in oak barrels, while the Montepulciano are harvested later and aged in stainless steel vats for the same time.
As a result we find in the bottle a very complex wine with intense soft aromas and a round taste with rich but not aggressive tannins.
It pairs great with game and red meat. It can be a great meditation wine as well.
