Podere Casina's Morellino di Scansano is a greatly balanced little gem. Robust but still totally easy to drink.
The vineyard is organic and biodynamic methods are used to improve the fertilization.
The harvest is done in two steps: part of the grapes are picked up at the beginning of September in order to maintain the acidity, the rest is a late harvest so to have more sugar and the right phenolic maturity.
The fermentation is in two steps too: the grapes are first macerated at cold temperature together with the whole bunch and only after few days it is followed by the normal fermentation for around 7 days.
The wine is then transferred into concrete vats for the malolactic fermentation and few months aging.
Podere Casina's Morellino is an intense and enjoyable wine where the typical violet and cherry notes of Sangiovese are topped by the spicy flavours of Syrah.
Smooth and brilliant in the mouth.
PAIRING: red meat and pasta with ragout (better if without tomatos)
