The hills where this Verdicchio grows is subject to large variations in temperature between day and night. This elevates the amount and quality of the yeasts on the grapes, making the skins thicker. Alessandro Vecchietti, owner and enologist of Cantina di Esanatoglia, makes sure to preserve this treasure by maturing the wine in stainless steel vats only and do not add any additional yeasts. As a result this Verdicchio di Matelica is an astonishing concentration of fruit and minerals both to the nose and in the mouth with a heady fragrance of apple.
