Pietroso (Montalcino - Siena)
Gianni Pignattai, owner of the winery Pietroso, has a specific purpose: make top quality wine.
In his five hectares (12 acres) and in his cellar quality he reaches that purpose with those daily actions which make Brunello a unique wine.
Montalcino is an area where it's not easy to stand out because the fantastic terroir and the tradition allow many local producers to achieve excellence. Pietroso is simply one of the best.
Gianni learned everything from his grandfather, Domenico Berni, who started making wine in the 1970s and bottled the first results in 1974.
From that time the growth of Pietroso has been constant and today's 35.000 bottles per year prove that this is the house of the perfect union between handcraft and quality.
