The success of the wine production in Lazio experienced many ups and downs in the centuries, but the fact that already the ancient Etruscans cultivated the vine and that most of the soil is vulcanic is guarantee that wine is in the DNA of this region.

In Lazio wine is produced in many areas but Castelli Romani (few kilometers south of Rome) is the most famous one. Here we have chosen the winery Le Quattro Vasche from Velletri. Le Quattro Vasche offers two white and two red wines, all of them very tied to the local grapes with the exception of Refenero which is a successful experiment of 100% Merlot.
