Friuli Venezia Giulia

Friuli Venezia Giulia is one of the smallest Italian regions but thanks to an ideal terroir it could carve out an important role in the rich Italian wine landscape.

The most appreciated areas are the Collio and the Colli Orientali, both very close to the Slovenian border.

Among the native vines white sorts like Ribolla Gialla, Friulano (previously known as Tocai), Malvasia Istriana and Vitovska stand out. But the red ones have good reputation as well: Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Pignolo and Schioppettino are the biggest.

The ideal conditions for making wine allowed international vines to grow and become part of the local landscape as well. It’s very common now to find Friulan wines made with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay.

For in-wine we have chosen the winery La Magnolia from the Colli Orientali region. La Magnolia produces a vast variety of the typical wines from Friuli with focus on quality.

And from Friuli Venezia Giulia comes Fred Jerbis too, an herbalist and botanic who produces craft Gin, Liquors and Spirits with herbs and plants produced by himself. We are very proud to have Fred Jerbis products on in-wine.
