Alto Adige/ Südtirol

italia_2.png

The Italian northern region of Alto Adige/Südtirol has been producing wine for centuries, long before the Romans reached this area, but it is in the last ten years that the local production reached an incredible quality level.
It’s a cold region close to the Alps therefore the biggest production is white: Pinot Bianco, Riesling, Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio, Traminer Aromatico/Gewürztraminer and Chardonnay mainly.
The red wines mostly come from two native vines: Schiava (Vernatsch in german) and Lagrein.
in-wine has chosen a very young winery headed by two friends who are not even thirty years old: Salurnis. We have chosen their amazing Chardonnay, one of the most precious wines in our shop, and Pinot Grigio Ramato which is so special with that incredible pink color.
