Sicilia

Sicily is one of the biggest Italian regions in terms of wine production (4th in the chart after Veneto, Puglia, Emilia Romagna).
The appellation with the biggest popularity right now is Etna DOC white and red. The wines produced on the volcano slopes are indeed very popular right now and the reason is doulbe: the amazing advantage of the volcanic soil, the great skills of the producers.
The grapes used for making Etna DOC are Carricante, Catarratto, Minnella and Trebbiano for the white wine and Nerello Cappuccio and Nerello Mascalese for the red wine.
Before the terrific recent growth of the Etna wines the most famous wines from Sicily were Nero d’Avola (red) and Grillo (white). Both are extraordinary wines.
Recently less known varieties are growing as well: Frappato (red) and Catarratto Lucido (white) are probably the best examples.
But Sicily can provide a great terroir for the international vines too like Syrah, Chardonnay and Viognier.
The selection process of in-wine took some time to find the right wineries in line with our philosophy.
We eventually have decided to go for two fantastic wineries: we have Caruso from the Etna region and the winery Sancarraro from the Marsala area. /p>
