Brunori (Jesi - Ancona)
Brunori winery was founded in 1956 by Mario and Giorgio Brunori amid the stunning landscapes of the Castelli di Jesi, the historic area renowned for producing one of Italy's finest white wines: Verdicchio.
On these well-ventilated hills at around 200 meters above sea level, with south-facing exposure and clay-sandy soils rich in limestone and potassium, the estate took its first steps, gaining significant acclaim by the 1970s—for instance, earning praise from renowned enogastronomic critic Luigi Veronelli, who frequently cited its wines as benchmarks for the entire region.
Brunori was among the first Castelli di Jesi wineries to embrace the concept of cru vineyards. As early as 1975, the San Nicolò vineyard was harvested separately to produce the namesake Verdicchio Classico Superiore, still in production today.
The estate, spanning 7 hectares and producing around 55,000 bottles annually, exemplifies a forward-thinking, virtuous winery committed to biodiversity, organic fertilization, mechanical weeding, and cover cropping.
Its dedication to sustainability is evident in the photovoltaic system meeting all energy needs and the use of natural materials for thermal insulation in the cellar.
A unique touch comes from the 1950s-style concrete tanks.
