"Calice" is the Aglianico wine with which Donato D'Angelo is making a name for himself with the general public, also thanks to the pleasant surprise of being awarded the Tre Bicchieri by Gambero Rosso.
We are talking about a pleasant and dynamic Aglianico del Vulture, without too much fuss, made with grapes from fairly young vineyards (about 10 years old).
The aging process lasts a good 18 months in tonneaux barrels.
In combination with the medium-textured volcanic alluvial soils from which the grapes come, we arrive at a perfectly calibrated red wine on the varietal notes of blueberry and black pepper.
Full on the palate and long in persistence.
PAIRING: Like all wines made with 100% Aglianico, Donato D'Angelo's Calice gives its best with red meat dishes.
