Ghiomo's Vigna Granda is a Nebbiolo that has little to envy when compared with many Barbaresco wines.
This red wine is made with grapes from the Vigna Granda vineyard with 20-25% thinning out in order to improve the quality.
The fermentation is made at 28 degrees with frequent, soft batonnage for a full extraction of the taste from the grapes. After around 200 hours of skin maceration the wine is transferred to stainless steel vats where the malolactic fermentation will take place at the end of which part of the wine will age in oak, while the rest will remain in steel.
Ghiomo's Vigna Granda is a brilliant ruby red Nebbiolo where fruit and rose dominates the bouquet. Very smooth and delicate in the mouth, extraordinary persistence.
PAIRING: the best way to enjoy Vigna Granda by Ghiomo is with food. Great with appetizers, pasta and red meat.
Giuseppino Anfossi, owner of the winery Ghiomo, describes it in the video below.
