BASILICATA ROSSO IGT BALCONARA 2021 - DONATO D'ANGELO
A generous blend of Aglianico and Cabernet Sauvignon
Typology: Red
Grapes: Aglianico
Alc: 14%
Serving temp: 18°
Format: 750 mL
Region: Basilicata
The vineyards from which the Aglianico and Cabernet grapes for Balconara come are located in Ripacandida, in the province of Potenza.
This places us in one of the most suitable and beloved areas for the Aglianico grape. But here, on this soil at 500 metres altitude with a medium volcanic texture, Cabernet has also found a soil where it develops splendidly.
The Balconara IGT is born from the equal blend of these two varieties.
The two grapes are harvested and fermented separately. The assemblage takes place when the wine is placed to mature in 500-litre barrels, where it remains for 15 months.
Balconara is a red wine of great balance between elegance, mainly conferred by the volcanic soil, and power, typical of these two varieties and southern Italian wines.
On the nose, the aromas are refined and inviting with beautiful spicy notes, while on the palate harmony prevails. Great persistence.
PAIRINGS: red meats and cheeses.
