The organic Barbera d'Alba Superiore from the Veglio winery in Diano d'Alba is produced on sandy soils enriched with calcareous-marly veins typical of Grinzane Cavour.
Manual selection in both the vineyard and the cellar results in a relatively low yield of around 7.5 tonnes per hectare.
It is the aging in medium-toasted Slavonian oak barrels that completes a winemaking process elevating this Barbera to exceptionally high levels.
On the nose, hints of spirit-soaked sour cherries and wilted petals emerge, while on the palate the sip is dense yet supported by the vibrant acidity typical of Barbera, leading to an excellent finish.
PAIRINGS: Veglio Luigi and Massimo's Barbera Superiore pairs well with all meat-based dishes and makes a delightful match with bagna caoda, a traditional Piedmontese dish.
