Claudio Mariotto (Vho Tortona - Alessandria)

Claudio Mariotto is one of the few winemakers who, in this small portion of Piedmont, rediscovered the Timorasso, a great white grape variety that had been forgotten for years.

This alone places Claudio among Italy's most important wine producers of the last 30 years.

But the story is a long one, beginning in 1921 when Bepi Mariotto started the farming business in Vho, a hamlet of Tortona. He was succeeded by Claudio's grandfather Salvatore and then by Oreste, Claudio's father.

Claudio Mariotto established his namesake agricultural company in the early 1990s and immediately focused his attention on Timorasso.

Today, the estate spans 54 hectares between 250 and 300 meters above sea level, located between Vho and Sarezzano, with a microclimate influenced by the Apennines, the Po Valley, and the Ligurian Sea.
