Claudio Mariotto's Barbera Monleale is the softer version of this superb Piedmontese grape variety so loved worldwide.
Following the late September harvest comes 10-12 days of fermentation, after which the wine matures in 500-liter oak barrels (tonneau) for 12 months.
After another 6 months of bottle aging, Barbera Monleale is ready to be enjoyed in all its intensity.
Red fruits, plum, and spices are clearly detectable on the nose, while on the palate we find good salinity due to the calcareous-clay soil and the typical freshness of the grape.
In the finish, marked by excellent persistence, the fruity notes return.
PAIRING: tajarin (traditional local egg-pasta) with truffles, agnolotti with ragù, braised meat, cheeses
