Rare yet high-quality grape variety, Cagnulari is grown exclusively in Sardinia, particularly in the province of Sassari.

Among the hills of Usini, Giovanna Chessa has made it the flagship wine of her winery, earning excellent reviews from critics and journalists, as well as from many enthusiasts of Italian indigenous varieties.

Chessa’s Cagnulari is cultivated on a hill between Alghero and Sassari, on calcareous soil surrounded by olive trees and Mediterranean maquis shrubs.

Harvest takes place at the end of September, followed by fermentation at controlled temperature (23-24°C) with repeated délestage and pump-overs for perfect extraction of minerals, tannins, and color.

Mineral character is this wine’s hallmark trait, also thanks to the choice of using exclusively stainless steel for maturation.

Striking nose: spices, violet, red berries, and woody notes.
On the palate: impressive for its softness and savoriness.

FOOD PAIRING: spit-roasted and grilled red meats, cheeses.
