Merlot is a variety that has historically found an excellent terroir south of Rome to express itself at its best in Italy.
Cantina del Tufaio makes the most of its own soil type, so rich in silica and, to a lesser extent, clay, to give birth to Casale Tiberio.
After a not-too-long maceration of about 10 days at controlled temperature below 30 degrees, it undergoes a passage in non-new barriques for about 6 months.
Casale Tiberio shows a beautiful lively ruby red color with purple hints. On the nose, it smells of cellar and antiquity, with references to earth, iron, and aromatic herbs.
Tannins are just hinted at on the palate, with a nice clean sensation in the finish.
