The small winery of Davide and Paolo Gerlotto, based in Diano d'Alba, produces two Barolos.
The Barolo from Serralunga d'Alba comes from superb vineyards in this renowned area at the eastern edge of the denomination.
On the other hand, the Barolo Sorano hails from a single vineyard located within the homonymous small subzone.
In the vineyard, meticulous attention ensures that the Nebbiolo grapes arrive in the cellar with maximum phenolic charge, ready to be treated with utmost respect for tradition.
The vinification process involves aging in large 20-hectoliter vats for over two years.
The 2016 Barolo Sorano is now approaching the peak of its evolution, but it will undoubtedly continue to evolve for many more years, as is typical of Barolos from Serralunga.
Wonderfully balanced on the nose, with hints reminiscent of aromatic herbs like rosemary, the Sorano delights the palate with velvety and well-integrated tannins. Tertiary notes emerge on the finish, evoking nutmeg and cocoa.
A truly exceptional red wine with remarkable persistence.
