Amedeo Iafrati of Vecchio Poggio is one of the few winemakers to have rediscovered Lecinaro, a minor grape variety from Ciociaria (South area of Lazio, central Italy.
Amedeo’s approach to his Lecinaro "Riama" is entirely natural, with spontaneous fermentation using a pied de cuve, eight days of maceration, and nine months of ageing in terracotta amphora.
The wine is bottled unfiltered and without clarification.
The clay-limestone soil and lush greenery of this area of southern Lazio make this wine a tribute to nature, with floral and spicy aromas.
PAIRINGS: The producer himself recommends enjoying Riama with sagne e fagioli — a traditional dish of maltagliati pasta with beans; we also recommend it with abbacchio alla scottadito — grilled lamb — and sausage with potatoes.
