DOLCETTO DI DIANO D'ALBA DOCG MONTAGRILLO 2023 ORGANIC - VEGLIO LUIGI & MASSIMO
Dolcetto is notoriously a challenging grape to produce, due both to vineyard complications and its capricious behavior during fermentation.
Yet it is a wine with such an adorably simple elegance that it would be a shame to do without it.
In Diano d’Alba, some of the finest expressions of this historic Piedmontese grape are crafted. In particular, at the Montagrillo “sorì,” the marl soil and the south-southeast exposure perfectly ensure a polyphenolic maturation rich in nuances.
Maturation in stainless steel tanks keeps this Dolcetto true to its varietal aromas, although at first sniff the most striking note is a surprising and captivating chestnut aroma. Soon after, hints of violets reemerge on the palate alongside plum.
Approximately 2,500 bottles of this wine have been produced.
PAIRING: Cured meats and cheeses, or the classic tajarin with ragù from Langhe.
