The 2023 vintage of Borgo La Stella's Chianti Classico differs considerably from the other productions of this small Tuscan winery.

Generally, the altitude (Borgo La Stella's vineyards are located at about 600 meters above sea level) keeps the alcohol content quite low, yet the 2023 has reached nearly 14% ABV.
Climate change surely played a role, but so did picking the perfect harvest moment for Sangiovese. Just a few days earlier, in fact, the grapes hadn't yet reached full phenolic ripeness, while a few days after the harvest, steady rains began that penalized the vintage for those who waited.
